Bonney Lake Mayor Michael McCullough announced at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 5, it is his intention to step down as mayor, effective end of business day March 6, following the acceptance of a position with the Puyallup Tribe.
“This is a very difficult decision for me, but I am excited for this new opportunity,” McCullough said. “It has been an honor to serve Bonney Lake as mayor. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a professional and hardworking staff team and a council who is dedicated to serving the community.”
McCullough has served as mayor since January 2022.
“We are grateful for Mayor McCullough’s service to our great city and wish him and his family the best in their new endeavors,” Deputy Mayor Terry Carter said.
City Council will continue to discuss the process to fill the vacant seat at its March 12 meeting.
