About the Hearing Examiner

Alex Sidels

Alex Sidles has been a land use and environmental lawyer in Seattle since 2017. He spent five years as a litigator at Bricklin and Newman, representing clients from across Washington State before hearing examiners, state and federal courts, and the state hearings boards. He left Bricklin and Newman to become a hearing examiner in 2022. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Alex was a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps and a high school and elementary school English teacher in Micronesia.

Pursuant to RCW 35A.63.170 and RCW 58.17.330, the office of land use hearing examiner, hereinafter referred to as “examiner,” is created. The examiner shall interpret, review and implement land use regulations as provided in this chapter or by other ordinances. The Hearing Examiner is authorized under BLMC 2.18.070 to prescribe rules and regulations that govern the process for hearings related to permits, appeals of administrative decisions, and code enforcement. Regular Meeting Schedule

Time: 1:00-4:00pm. on the Third Monday of the month and are conducted according to by-laws adopted by the Commission.

Meeting Agendas

The agendas for the hearing examiner meeting will be available prior to the meeting. A special meeting may be called at any time, with notices posted not less than 24 hours in advance.
