Code Enforcement
The City of Bonney Lake has adopted the Bonney Lake Municipal Code (BLMC) to ensure healthy, safety and overall appearance of the City. The City of Bonney Lake employs two full time Code Enforcement Officer.
To begin the review of a potential code violation, a request for action form must be submitted. Request for action forms are the only way to generate a code enforcement investigation. Complaints and concerns are not accepted via phone or email. When submitting a request for action form, it is critical that you provide the address and a description of the potential violation.
REQUEST FOR ACTION FORM
Typical complaints handled by Code Enforcement include (but are not limited to):
- Nuisances affecting public health (All noise complaints are handled by Bonney Lake PD)
- Accumulations of trash, rubbish, or discarded waste materials on residential or commercial properties
- Dilapidated buildings, structures, and properties
- Uncontrolled vegetation
- Unpermitted building, remodeling, clearing, land use etc.
- Zoning
- Signs
A request for action form is appropriate for BLMC violations with some exceptions listed below:
- Citizens experiencing an emergency or witnessing an in-progress crime should call 9-1-1.
- Citizens concerned with illegal activity or homeless encampments should call the non-emergency police line at 253-287-4455
- Citizens concerned with noise should call the non-emergency police line at 253-287-4455
- Citizen seeking help regarding domesticated animals and birds should contact Metro Animal Services directly, by calling 253-299-7387 extension 1.
- Citizens seeking help with outdoor burning should contact East Pierce Fire and Rescue directly, by phone at 253-863-1800 or email. Information on outdoor burning is also available of EPF&R Residential Fire Requirements website.
- Citizens seeking help with electrical issues should contact Labor and Industries directly, by phone at 1-800-423-7233 or email.
- Citizens seeking to report a wildlife sighting (such as bear and deer) should contact the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife directly at WDFW Enforcement Wildcomm by email or phone at 360-902-2936 Option 1.
- Citizens seeking support for nuisance wildlife should contact WDFW directly by email or phone at 360-249-4628.
